Hey infected people and maggots around. I usually don’t write many blogs or shit (just sometimes at work… but ofc is not the same) and also, english isn’t my born language, so bare with it.
I assume that lots of you watch, at any point of your lives, horror films. I find them particularly appealing to me since they can show the darker side of human kind. Yes, I am talking about serial killers and sometimes supernatural creatures. As expected, lot of metal, goth and other social tribes share in the deepest of their social birth, but what is actually so appealing of them? Should we be naturally identify with the victim or with the killer?
Such questions make me not only follow this horror films (and just as start, traditional horror films like halloween, friday 13th, nightmare on elm street, evil dead, texas chainsaw massacre and such just to name a few) but also to start moving into the world and psycholgy of real serial killers and more underground films.
I do want to clarify, I am not a psychologist or linked to any of this “pseudo” sciences. More as a hobby reading and watching I think.
As time went by, I did notice my sudden need of more though experiences. Stronger videos and sensations. Besides the drug exploration I did as a youngster, the constant need of numb my senses beyond the common “humanity” standards. I think the first time I did realized of this was when I got a copy of August Underground Mordum. For the ones that doesn’t know about this film… just google it… sick as it can get…
Soon after I found myself looking for the whole trilogy (yeah mordum is the 3rd). Watching similar films such as Aftermath… When I recalled my experiences as an 8 year old watching Cannibal holocaust, or faces of death.
At the end, betrayal, rage, murder and death…. everything we learn from society as “forbidden” or “wrong” is shown on our tv screens, breeding a new human… the antihuman, the pure animal in raw form… I don’t mean to actually justify any murder, but hell…. they sell as sex does… the morbid side of mankind revealed in this new cyber era… A human who doesn’t feel disturbed by this, who actually embrace it as part of life. Most likely we won’t kill other humans on our lifes, but we are constantly killing ourselves day by day in many ways… and what the hell… let us kill our senses as well. Let us become as numb as we can for an already numb society.
Now I ask myself and all of you…. why I wrote this… truly I don’t know for sure… hahaha, maybe sharing a little of the darkest side I own… maybe to reveal an obsession that you also have… Maybe to tell you… You are not alone…

Ah. Horror is so great
A horror freak myself I am psyched to see these new titles to look for. Oppressed in America… yeah that should be a good one to make. I read this, along with some other sic viruses… god I love this site. Such an escape….
The Horror genre is like a haunted house: A safe scare. You can have all the thrills and chills you like without ever having to face actual danger. You’re not risking life and limb, there is no mad axe-man. At the end of the night you’re going safely home to be tucked into your nice, warm bed. Most of us don’t actually (or conciously) want to kill, hurt or endanger ourselves or others. But there is something primal and distinct of the human animal in horror film. We are the only species known to kill our own kind or others for sport. We slow to a crawl on afternoon-busy highway systems to get a look at the human collateral of a five car pile-up. Buried, sometimes rather deeply, in the human pshyche is the desire to see/do/feel “horror” with all its trappings done to ourselves and to others. So, why not buy a ticket?
Horror is my favorite genre of film to watch and create (though my experience doing so is rather limited) because it does involve elements which are very negative to society and are generally not a part of our every day lives. Yet they can portrait very similar situations we may find ourselves in someday which makes them even more terrifying. The serial killer type movie in particular is a great example because it is very real possibility and we may never know who around us could become what we see on the screen. That just adds to our paranoia after seeing the film, haha, usually. With bloody gory movies, I have a tendency to see everything as a special effect and kind of miss the point of it being shown as real; however, I do enjoy them and they often make me chuckle. In my opinion I don’t think a movie can be described as a part of the horror genre unless it instills a sense of horror in it’s audience. If it doesn’t make them go “OH GOD UGH WHY?? THAT’S HORRIFIC” then it isn’t a true horror movie. Of course there doesn’t need to be blood and gore in a movie to get this reaction but it does make it easier. Btw psychology isn’t a pseudo science, it can be tested and proven through experimentation. Astrology is a pseudo science.
“Btw psychology isn’t a pseudo science, it can be tested and proven through experimentation. Astrology is a pseudo science.” Thank you.
That aside on the article, I do feel that the internet has numbed sheltered people to what may have shocked them before. Mainly, the type of people that you described. Those that would never experience any form of conflict or confrontation normally.
I feel that being numb to it via artificial means can be dangerous. It gives people false confidence/expectations if and when they are faced with the real deal. This sort of thing is interesting because it’s one of those instances where you must have been in a similar situation to fully appreciate it. Or fear it even.
I would like to note that I am aware of the differences between intellectual curiosity and sadism/masochism/sadomasochism. Once a person enters that world, in any way, they have to know where they stand or they will be consumed by it. Personally, I fall into both categories. The latter started as a coping mechanism for me when I was younger, but I have my limits.
I never really thought about it before now, but I suppose horror movies are sort of like a way of watching something you shouldn’t…of finding enjoyment in things that morally should be repulsive. Really though, I think Cannibal Holocaust and the August Underground series are kinda funny–like campy. The only movie I’ve seen lately that scared me was Human Centipede. I thought it was extremely creepy.
O.O I’ve heard about the Human Centipede from my brother. The way he described it made me want to puke. Did you feel sick? I may be over exaggerating because I have an over reactive imagination and I could be picturing it more gross than it really is or is it actually gut wrenching? Anyways, Micheal Myers is my favorite psycho killer guy because he kills with style that slaughters the competition.
I love this subject so much.My love and appreciation for horror/gore has always been underlying until the last five, dark years of my life.I think i might be completly deranged at times, but im obsessed with gore and violence-I laugh so fucking hard at the most horrid HORRID things.if something can actually disturb me,i love it more.Human Centipede and Human Centipede 2 make me very happy. The first one is the set up of the joke/the idea…twisted, funny, adorable. The 2nd one is the joke itself.Lets see how uncomfortable we can make these fuckers watching this shit.love love love it.I love how its black and white. It helps you stomach easier all of the nasty SHIT.Through out this movie i laughed and laughed and laughed.as far as other films,i love campy, underground films exploding with creative gore.ZOMBIE movies make life worth living.any and all kinds of zombie movies intrest me,but of course the more graphic they are the better.I also am a rare one who sometimes despises plots and over developed stories.give me senseless violence and overly repulsive visuals.i’m not numb to these things i see.i react, oh i react…but its adrenaline and entertainment.im not sure why i laugh tho….it could be a dangerous sign.or maybe i just have an awsome sense of humor.lol.i love this site, ranting about movies is what i love the most about watching them.
I have a penchant for horror films but not for the gore. I think too many horror flicks are nothing but stabbing and screaming, anymore. Gore certainly has its place, and it can be well used to emphasize a movie but lots of blood and no plot is simply gross and doesn’t keep my interest. I really like psychological thrillers like Red Dragon and the Hellraiser series, or even Repo Man to state a more recent one.
ah yes August Underground.. that movie was just so good… Movies like that and also ”I stand alone” which is a great psychological thriller, horror movie lets you see and experience this life form a different perspective: i’d say even from a more realistic perspective unlike in those movies about love and all that trite stuff.
also I’ve seen 2 movies of August Underground: Mordum and Penance. I’ve heard somewhere that the third part would also come.. is it true? Maybe it’s out already.
