Amphetamines.Alcohol. Acid.Barbituates.Bennies.Cocaine.Ketamine.Heroin.Speed.Marijuana. Hash.Tobacco.Mushrooms.Codeine.Valium.Ecstasy.Vicodin. I’m sure there is more I have tried. Experimented with. Been addicted to. Had fun with. Had horrible times with.Loved.Hated.Tried once.Tried many times. I am not proud, nor do I feel “I am a better person for” doing these drugs as so many stories from musicians, actors poets etc. proclaim. I will never understand the appeal or the hatred of these substances. All I know is my experiences, and those close to me and the numerous stories we have all heard about… played out in the public arena of celebrities, musicians, poets and actors. If someone were to ask me, I would say DO NOT partake. You’re life will be better, more productive. But I am the last person on earth that would even think about telling someone what to do. The problem I have with this subject is this: There is a feeling, a message of betterment (is that a word?) of having to go thru this substance abuse thing to “come out the other side” …”to become the person I am today”…whatever the phrase is that we have heard so many times that says you need to experience this to get somewhere, to be creative, to get to a good place. It is BULLSHIT. A BIG FUCKING LIE on all levels. Nikki Sixx,Johnny Cash, Anthony Kiedis (Scar Tissue…do not miss this book), and other great bios, books and life stories tend to put out this message, intentionally or not. Do not fall for it. BUT, as I sit here wasted on booze for the first time in 3 MONTHS, I am a confused, angry, hypocrite, once again sabotaging my life, drinking again because I lost my job. I do not understand it. So in conclusion…yea I CAN be a big wind bag…DOES THE GOOD OUT WEIGH THE BAD IN DOING DRUGS?

Least you can say to others the truth of the self endured hell , and the experiences. so they can make their own choice. There’s really no need to tell anyone what they should or should not do, which you pointed out. Each individual makes up their own mind what they want to test or experiment with, and personally, I think that’s part of the adventure called Life. Making choices, and learning from them, and moving on when it’s the right time for YOU.
“Does the good out weigh the bad in doing drugs?”
I’ve only had personal experiences with weed, alcohol, meth, and heroine. Personal, meaning, having close encounters with people high off of said drugs. I only smoke cigarettes and pot, along with only drinking once in awhile.
Heroine is something I see people always coming back to, even though all it seems to do is put the users in prison for ridiculous reasons. The people I’ve seen who use meth just use the ‘high’ to make some, sell it, and in between that process, obviously, smoke it. Meth users I’ve known become selfish, and their priorities change. First is meth, then themselves. They don’t really care about anyone else. Alcohol is something that should be taken into moderation. Getting wasted everyday is completely intollerable to me. If a person were to become violent while intoxicated by alcohol, maybe that stuff isn’t for them. Or if they become promiscuous, that’s not good simply because of the possibility of an STD, or worse, a child. Drinking, I believe, should be allowed for good occasions to celebrate, or if you’ve got time off, some recreational use would be fine, if and only if your drunk self is not violent or horny.
Marijuana. Honestly, I’ve never seen any bad from this drug. Now, if you do anything else with it, meaning drinking at the same time, or pills, or smoking it along with a ‘hardcore’ drug, something bad is possible to happen.
Now…The bad outweighs the good, sometimes. Depends on the drugs and your personality. Drugs are not good for those who have addicting personalities or those who plan on using drugs as an ‘escape’. There are millions of other things to make a person happy or creative.
If you see any flaws in what I’ve typed, please feel free to point it out. I’m pretty open minded, and I hope that helped sort out the question. (Sorry to comment late, seeing this was posted in May. The title caught my attention…)
Sounds like you’ve been too the deluded cult of Narcotics Anonymous… the question of drugs no matter the class (tryptamine, phenethylamine.opioid, opiate and numerous other chemical trees out there) is that you either use or you don’t. Addiction is a word that was made up in the 40′s IRONICALLY after the whole A.A. thing before that in any dictionary it was “Maldiction” which basically means bad vice. Now there are chemicals out there that cause the body to have what in the mainstream is called a craving. Basically a neurons want of the chemical it is missing because it is used to it being there. Now mind you that that chemical didn’t get there on it’s own and enjoyment is enjoyment allowing yourself to have a free mind is completely up too you i’ve known both lifelong drug users on both end of the UP and DOWN spectrum ranging into there 80′s even completely healthy. It’s a matter of quality which the War on Drugs keeps at a minimum… like paraquat in the 70′s. So I’d advise you to do your research both psychologically and physically when it comes to the affects of chemicals because right because you’ve tried something doesn’t mean you understand it, and your finite understanding is obvious and sounds like an N.A. meeting in here. LETS FORGET TOMMOROW AND FORGET YESTERDAY AND LIVE JUST FOR TODAY sounds like a mis caculated judgement, because if we forget what happenend yesterday we couldn’t proceed through today and advance into the future prepared.
After reading your comment again, yea pot is safest…booze, not so much. The “juice”… booze…is really harmful in the not so long run. Stats bear this out. You can die after too much drink…but mass pot smoke ain’t gonna kill ya… unless ya try to fly off a cliff, or eat 3 gallons of chocolate ice cream. Smoke for days and you ain’t gonna die…trust me I have tried. I guess it comes down to personal responsability…a hard one to call when under the influence one way or another. Just be more careful than you may think you may be. It does catch up to ya.
i’m not saying anything is safe, but compared to everything else, alcohol is safer than say… heroin, amphetamines, ecstasy, methadone…..
And pot is NOT safe. I’ve had my shit laced with the weirdest things. Don’t trust it, it’s not always what you think it is.
I agree 100% ! Well said.
lol. Wind bag. Haven’t heard that one in awhile.
You know how I feel about them. Sort of. But I can’t resist giving my opinion anyway.
Big question, NO. There truly is no good in messing with drugs. Booze I don’t mind so much, but being in control matters. Those that have to go out every night have absolutely no control over themselves, their lives, and it saddens me.
Alcohol is a downer. When everyone says it numbs the pain of life, it does, but it doesn’t. When you’re drunk You feel great. Unless you’re one of those belligerent assholes like my stupid ass boyfriend. When you sober, you feel worse than before. Is it really worth it? To make yourself depressed?
Pot works the same way.
Amphetamines are great, if you like having more energy than is normal for a person, or are trying to lose weight. Until you have a heart attack. Same with ecstasy.
Any of these drugs can kill you. Prescriptions and “hard” drugs are the worst. Why throw away your life for a few hours of idiocy?
Pot and alcohol are safest, but why destroy your life?
Everyone likes to drink, I like to drink, but I don’t haul off and get totally trashed every night.
Nobody needs to share my experiences with booze. Be safe and happy. Enjoy your life in ways that you can remember. My best memories are not of being stoned, but sober. They’re the only ones I can remember anyway.
I agree 100% ! Well said
