Vamp Magic

Chapter 1
I was sitting at my desk, leaning over occasionally to talk to Jade. We were supposed to be taking notes. Instead Jade and I were talking about almost everything.
I am Sammantha Tepes, although I prefer Samm. I have purple eyes, long black hair, and pale-white skin. I was grouped as a Goth,I never really thought of myself as a Goth until I was grouped as one in Jr.High. Today I was wearing a black shirt with black and white arm warmers. A pair of black cargo pants, and black combat boots. My eyes were painted black,my nails were black,as was my eyeliner.
Jade was also grouped as Goth. She had short black hair, dark green eyes, and pale skin. Not as pale as mine, though. Toady her hair was part way covering her face,no one could tell her eyes were painted a dark purple. Her nails were black with purple tips. She was wearing a gray shirt, with the words: Don’t Break Hearts; Eat Them, printed on it. She was also wearing a black denim skirt with gray fishnet leggings. Her combat boots were also black.
After a while there was a knock at the door. When the teacher went to open it there was a girl standing in the doorway, with the principal right by her side.
Her short light brown hair was up in a pigtail. Her eyes were a deep sky blue, while her skin was a peach-pink. She was in a white shirt with a pink jacket over top. Her capris were a faded blue, while her sandals were the same blue as her eyes. Her eyes weren’t painted, but her nails were, they were a light almost white pink.
The teacher finally came back in after talking for what seemed hours. He was joined by the girl. She seemed to be staring only at me,when she came back in. Then again I could’ve been imagining it.
“Class this is Melissa Linmer.” the teacher announced.
“You may take a seat next to Jade” Said the teacher waving his hand toward Jade. At the sound of her name Jade perked up. When she saw Melissa she sunk back into her chair.
After Melissa was seated, class resumed. That was the longest class ever.
Chapter 2
After school Jade,Leo,Raven, and I walked to the graveyard. I figured that Melissa chic would never follow us here.
Leo was a somewhat muscular boy, with pale skin short, spiky, black hair and green eyes. Today he was wearing simply a black shirt baggy, black, cargo pants, and black tennis shoes. Leo was the D&D dude. That’s what all his friends called him.
Raven was a thin boy with somewhat long black hair, purple eyes, and pale-white skin. He was wearing a gray hoodie, black denim jeans and black combat boots. Raven never talked much, you were lucky to even get a single word out of him. He kept mostly to himself, except when I talked to him.
Raven and I wondered over to his family mausoleum, leaving Jade and Leo by themselves, which is never a good idea, unless you love the sound of arguing. Anyways I sat down on a rock next to the mausoleum, while Raven sat on the rock across from me.
“What’s wrong?” Raven inquired. I looked down at my boots and then at Raven, and finally answered.
“Nothing.” I looked at his face for a sign of belief, but instead I found a sign of disbelief.
“Tell me the truth, what is wrong?” Raven asked again, this time more curious. I didn’t know how to say that some new girl gave me the shivers. I fiddled with my green spider necklace for a few minutes, then answered.
“There’s a new chic,” Raven looked at me urging me to go on,”and she kind of gives me the creeps.” I was waiting for a laugh or something, but it never came. Raven just gave me a look of concern.
“Samm,it’s just a girl, what could she do to you?” Raven was a very sweet boy and understood me somewhat. But I could tell he didn’t understand this situation.
“Well when she came into class all she did was stare at me. It kind of freaked me out.” I told Raven. He just looked at his family mausoleum, mouthing the inscription.
I finally got up and headed in the direction of Jade and Leo. Raven slowly got up and followed me. When I got within earshot of them all I heard was arguing.
“Can’t you two go a minute without arguing?” I asked both yelling loud enough to be heard over their screaming.
“Jade says vampyres exist.” said Leo.
“And you say they don’t!” replied Jade. I couldn’t reply honestly, who was right,or risk them finding out about Raven and I. So I just replied,
“Does it matter?” After that they both replied no,and were quiet the rest of the way home.
When it was just me and Raven I decided I might as well offer him a drink. But he declined the offer, and we went our separate ways, home.
Chapter 3
The next day,I was at my locker, when Raven came up from behind, startling me.
“Raven you freaking scared me!” I shouted while punching his arm.
“I didn’t mean to.” was his response. I swear if he wasn’t able to get hurt I’d kill him.
“What is so important you had to scare the crap out of me?” I was a little pissed. But I can’t stay mad too long at Raven,he is just so sweet.
“Well I managed to get a look at the new girl’s locker,She had loads of pictures of vampyres.” That really sent shivers up my spine, but what he said next was like a stake through the heart.
“She also had a picture of you among the other pictures.”
“Do you think she knows?” I quizzed Raven.
“I don’t know?” Somehow Raven’s response made me feel a lot more vulnerable. I hoped she didn’t know. I said good-bye to Raven and headed off to my next class.
I was in last period, art, with Raven and Leo. We were supposed to draw something we loved. I glanced over at Leo’s. He was drawing a picture of Jade. He and Jade are very close, but I didn’t think that close. So I took a peek at Raven’s he was having trouble too. He had nothing on his parchment, and his head in his hands. By the end of class I still hadn’t drawn anything. Raven on the other hand, had drawn me. I was surprised, but I pretended not to see it. Instead I looked for Melissa’s. When I found her’s she had drawn a blue wizard hat and a black, white tipped wand. All the way to the graveyard I thought about it.
When Raven,Jade, and I reached the graveyard,Leo had a D&D game,we all took a seat on one of the gravestones. Since Leo wasn’t with us, Raven and I couldn’t go off by ourselves to chat about our secret. I laid my coffin backpack on the ground next to Jade’s purple and black messenger bag. I decided to tell Jade about Leo’s art project.,
“In art,we were supposed to draw something we loved, and Leo drew you.”Jade didn’t seem that surprised at all.
“Well I should probably tell you guys that Leo and I are going out.” when Jade said that I almost fell off the gravestone. When I finally looked back at Jade, she was blushing. I would’ve slapped some sense into her,but I knew I would probably hurt her,if I did. So instead I just talked some sense in to her.
“What!!!!!!!! Are you out of your mind?” Not the best thing to say,but I was pretty shocked. I saw that Jade had gotten off the gravestone and was heading home. I felt really bad about saying that, but there was nothing I could do. So I got off the gravestone, said good-bye to Raven and headed home, too.
Chapter 4
The next morning I woke up and felt horrible. It felt like a stake had been shoved through my heart. I couldn’t even get out of my coffin. My father came in and sat down on the coffin next to me.
“How are ve feeling” he asked in his transylvanian accent. I don’t have an accent because he moved when I was born. I’ve never even seen Transylvania. I didn’t really know how I was feeling.
“Fine” I answered. Although I was far from it,but I didn’t want to stay home,I had to talk to Raven. I finally got out of bed pulled on a black shirt with fishnet sleeves,a pair of black denim jeans and my cargo boots. I grabbed my coffin backpack, and ran out the door.
I got to school five minutes before the first bell,so I ran to my locker and grabbed everything I needed for my first class. Then I went to the library and quickly searched for books on magick. All I found was Wicca:The Beginner’s Guide. I checked it out just in time for the first bell.
During study hall I read the book and found nothing that could help me. So I figured I’d better work on my art project. I didn’t know what to draw. I had no pets so that was out of the question. Then I thought I would draw a collage of all the animals I love. So I doodled some ravens, crows, bats, and wolves. Then I drew them onto the parchment. When I got there someone grabbed me from behind and pulled me into one of the stalls. I couldn’t see who it was until I turned around and there was Melissa, Raven, and another girl. At first all I thought was,why is Raven in the girl’s bathroom? But then I thought that, that was the least of my problems. Melissa put her index finger to her lips signaling me to silence. I was afraid of what she would do,so I stood there quietly. Until finally she spoke.
“If you want to stay alive,I urge you to stay quiet and listen to me.” she waved her hand towards the other girl in the stall,
“This is Miranda,my friend.”
Miranda had short brown hair with light brown highlights, blue eyes, and peach-pink skin. She was wearing a pink shirt with pink fish-netting sleeves, green shorts and light blue sandals. She looked more like Melissa’s twin, than a friend.
“We are here to help your kind and our’s. But we need your help.” Miranda didn’t sound anything like Melissa, her voice was more confidant than Melissa’s. I didn’t know what to think, our kinds? What the hell did that mean? I figured she meant vampyres and Wiccans, but I wasn’t sure if she was a Wiccan or not. But I knew that she knew mine and Raven’s secret. We were vampyres.
Chapter 5
At first I was somewhat surprised, but then again she did have pictures of vampyres in her locker, maybe she did know about us. Either way I played stupid.
“What do you mean our kinds’?” I asked hoping to get an answer out of her before I actually revealed anything.
“I mean witches and vampyres. Us and you two.” Melissa answered pointing at me then Raven. I looked at Raven and he looked at me. We were both kind of surprised that a mortal knew.
“How did you find out?” I asked,I wanted to know.
“Miranda and I followed you two,and your other friends around.”
“But Leo and Jade don’t know anything.”
“After a while Miranda and I figured that out,so we continued to just follow you.” Just then I heard the school bell ring,so I fled from the stall and restroom and to my locker. I fumbled with the lock then finally got my locker open. I grabbed my coffin book bag and fled the school, not waiting for any of my friends, and ran home
When I walked in the door I went straight to my bedroom. I plopped down on my coffin and popped in a Crypt Kicker CD,then laid in my coffin until dinner.
After a dinner of rare steak and some wine I went back to my room and slept, until the doorbell rang. I thought it was that Melissa chic and her friend, but when I came down it was only Jade. I invited her up to my bedroom, but made her wait outside my door, until I could disguise my coffin to make it look like an ordinary bed. Then when we were all situated she began.
“Where did you go this afternoon. Leo and I waited for thirty minutes. Although Raven didn’t bother to wait for you,he just went right home. He said he had a feeling you wouldn’t be showing up. What was that all about?” I didn’t know what to say,but I knew it was time to tell her the truth. So I told her to call Leo and have him come over. I called Raven and told him what I was going to do and asked him to come over too. Then Jade and I waited.
After everyone was there Raven and I told them everything, beginning with the fact we were vampyres.
Chapter 6
Jade was hysterical. At first she didn’t believe me then she was somewhat upset that I hadn’t told her. The she gave me the we were friends first speech, and that I should’ve told her before Raven.
Leo on the other hand didn’t believe me at all and said I was wasting his time. What could he have done that was more important for his time? I rolled my eyes, shook my head, and sighed. Leo has always been stubborn,I think that is why he became my friend. I used to like that trait, now it’s just a pain in the ass. Jade was just staring in awe at me. It was kinda creepy.
“Leo if you don’t care just leave.” I told Leo pointing to the door. Leo’s mouth was wide open with eyes telling me I had to be kidding.
“Whatever, come on Jade,Let’s go.” Leo replied gesturing towards Jade. But Jade stayed sitting there, staring at Leo.
“I don’t want to go,I want to hear more.” Jade said to Leo.
“You believe this? I don’t know why I even wanted to be your friend, let alone boyfriend.”,Leo said pointing towards Jade,”I don’t know why I wanted to be friends with you two either!” shouted Leo,while pointing towards me and Raven. I just shrugged and turned away, not letting Leo know how hurt I was. Jade,on the other hand let her emotions flow.
“How could you! I loved you,and now..now…I absolutely hate you!” Jade shouted at Leo. Raven snickered,so I elbowed him. Leo left my room in a raging fit. After I heard the door downstairs slam shut,I started to cry.
Chapter 7
After Jade and I had finished drying our tears,I told her about what all had happened in the bathroom. She giggled when I told her Raven was in the girl’s bathroom,I had to elbow Raven again to keep him from hurting Jade.
When I had finished,Jade had a ton of questions.
“How did you become a vamp? How did you two find out you were both vamps? Do you really have like super abilities?” Jade drilled us with more questions than she ever asked in school. When she was satisfied she had all the information she wanted, she sat quietly waiting for me or Raven to speak. Raven broke the silence that followed.
“What are we going to do?” Raven inquired, specifically to me. I just shrugged and jumped off my coffin. I went to my closet, and pulled out a black boot box. I walked back over to my coffin, while lifting the lid. Inside the box was a dagger. The dagger had a black, leather, handle. It also shined when it hit the light. Jade and Raven were both surprised, and Raven is never surprised. I lifted the dagger from the box,and held it up so everyone could see it.
“I think we’re supposed to use this. It was a present to me when I was younger. It was given to me from my uncle. He said I would know when to use it, and to keep it safe. So I kept it in one of my combat boot boxes.” I told them. I laid the dagger back into the box,and set the box on my night stand. I then grabbed my phone and punched in my uncle’s number. The phone rang once, twice, three times. Then my uncle picked up.
“Hello, who is it?” my uncle answered.
“It’s me,Sammantha.”
“You sound so grown up. How are you doing?”
“Fine, about the dagger,wha-” he hung up. I sighed and set the phone back on the receiver. Raven and Jade stared at me with curiosity. I sat back down on my coffin and fell back on it.
“Now what?” Raven asked. I just closed my eyes, and sighed. I wasn’t really sure what to do next. But I did wonder why my uncle had hung up on me. Did I say something, although I barely said a sentence worth. I looked over at my clock and saw it was ten.
“I’d better get home before my mom freaks.” Jade said as she was getting up.
“I better do the same.” Raven said.
After we all said good-byes and see you later,I went back up to my room and fell on my coffin, and went right to sleep. Thinking about tomorrow.
Chapter 8
The next morning I pulled on a black tee and black cargo pants. I also threw on black and jade green combat boots. Then I headed out for school. To my surprise Jade and Raven were waiting on the steps for me. We walked to school in silence.
When we got there I went to my locker and threw my book bag inside. Then hurried to the girl’s bathroom.
When I got there,Melissa and Miranda were already there. We all squeezed into the handicap stall, which was bigger than the rest, and waited for Raven. I knew Raven was a little self-conscious of going into the girl’s bathroom. Raven finally came in,and we ushered him into the largest stall, with us.
After we had all gotten comfortable,Melissa began.
“To continue from yesterday,We need your help, will you help?” Melissa asked in a way that seemed she was ordering, more than asking. Raven and I looked at each other, and we both nodded.
“Okay, let’s meet after school.” Melissa said starting to leave the stall. But I stopped her with my question.
“Where?” I asked.
“In the graveyard. You two seem to spend an awful lot of time there. But don’t bring any of your friends!” Melissa hissed.
“But Jade knows and is excited. I can’t just not let her come.” I say.
“Okay, just her.” Melissa said. I begin to tell her about Leo,but stopped to keep her from hissing at me again.
After school,Raven,Jade, and I headed over to the graveyard. I sat on one of the graves and Raven on another. Jade just stood, she felt like that would be disrespecting the dead,by sitting on the graves. I hung my coffin bag on the grave and waited for Melissa and Miranda.
After what felt like an hour,Melisa and Miranda showed up. I jumped off the grave and walked over to them. Raven followed, then Jade. Melissa lead us into the forest, and sat down in a little clearing. Jade sat down next to Miranda, then Raven,me,Melissa,in a circle.
Melissa spoke first,” Don’t speak a word of this to anyone.!” she said giving us a dirty look. I silently laughed, but quickly quit when Raven elbowed me. Miranda stood up and recited some strange words, and we were suddenly in a darkened room. Soon the room was lighted,I saw posters of different bands on the walls, I realized this must be either Melisa or Miranda’s room. I saw two giant M’s on the wall, over two pink, frilly beds. I almost gagged.
“You two are sisters? I thought you were friends?” I asked trying not to gag. Melissa sighed and shook her head.
“We aren’t,we’re friends, that live together.” Miranda answered rudely. I rolled my eyes, again Raven elbowed me and smiled. I smiled back. I turned back to face Melissa and Miranda. They were looking for a book or something off the pink shelf. I scanned the room and noticed not everything was pink and girly. One little area looked like my room, except that there wasn’t a coffin anywhere. I studied the space curiously, there were bottles filled with different things, books staked and thrown all over, and cute little skulls on the shelves. I smiled and realized Raven was watching me,so I turned back and faced Miranda and Melissa.
“Found it!” Melissa yelled to Miranda. Miranda walked over to Jade, Raven, and me, and sat down on a chair in front of us. I felt like I was back in elementary school,Melissa quickly flipped through the pages of the book. After a while she stopped and walked over to us.
“Okay,so the problem is many demons have escaped from Hell. They haven’t hurt any mortals yet, just immortals.” I tensed at the word immortal,I guess Raven could see how tense I was, because he scooted closer to me and put an arm around my shoulders’
“Apparently these demons are only after immortals, but they could hurt a mortal to get to the immortals. Here is what the demons look like.” Melissa said showing a pic from her book. The thing was hideous. It was all black, had long fingernails, sharp teeth stained with blood, and its eyes shone bright red. It sent shivers up my spine.
“These ugly bastards can change form, almost like a shapeshifter, they can appear in any form, including immortal looking. They can even appear as animals. Most commonly they are in a mortal form, searching auras and feeling for strong emotions. They are almost impossible to decipher from the real mortals and immortals. ” Melissa said sitting down on a chair. Raven squeezed my shoulder and tucked my hair behind my ear.
“It’s okay,I won’t let anything hurt you.” Raven whispered trying to see my emotions. There were many things I wanted to say back, but I kept quiet and waited for either girl to talk. Melissa closed the book and sat it on the ground.
“What do you need us for?” I asked. Both girls shifted nervously in their chairs.
“You are only a half-vamp. We thought you might be able to confuse the demons.” Melissa said nervously,as if I were going to attack. I looked down at my combat boots and sighed.
“How would she confuse them?” Jade asked suspiciously. Both girls seemed to be thinking about how to word everything. Finally Miranda answered this time.
“Because she has the scent of both a mortal and immortal. We thought that might make the demons disorientated and they would doubt their sense of smell.” Miranda shifted uneasily in her chair. Raven stood up and grabbed mine and Jade’s hands.
“Takes us back home.” Raven said pulling us to our feet. Melissa sighed and said some more strange words and we were back in the forest. Raven started walking away dragging me and Jade with him.
Chapter 9
Raven kept a hold of me and Jade until we were out of the forest and graveyard.
“What is wrong?” I asked trying to break from Raven’s grip.
“I’m not going to let you be used as bait.” Raven replied looking back at me.
“I’ll be fine.” I say meeting his eyes.
“I need to get home.” Jade said waving. Raven and I waved back. I started towards my house,When Raven grabbed my shoulder.
“You can’t do this.” Raven said. I turned towards Raven.
“I have to.”
“You don’t. Please don’t do this.” Raven said holding both of my shoulders. I sighed and met his eyes.
“I’m the only one. I have to,or everyone will be gone.” I say lowering my head. Raven put a finger to my chin, and lifted it.
“Please don’t. You could get seriously injured,or even worse…” Raven said,I could tell he was holding back a tear.
“Then what are we supposed to do?” I asked sitting down on the curb. Raven sat down next to me.
“I don’t know.” Raven replied looking up at the darkened sky. I sighed and watched the road. A minute or so went by in silence, then Raven stood up and grabbed my arm.
“We need to get out of here.” He said, his voice full of concern.
“Why?” I asked standing up. Raven pointed down the road. At the end of the road was one of those demons, and it was coming fast.
Raven ran and then he began to flit. I was flitting the whole way,to keep up. Then I felt a sharp pain in my ankle,I fell to the pavement. I looked behind me and saw the demon, his teeth were sunk deep in my ankle. I tried to shake it loose, but no luck. Raven stopped and flitted back to me. The demon let go of me and went after Raven. I couldn’t get up to help,I laid there and just watched in terror as the demon went after Raven.
The demon tried to bite Raven, but he was faster than it. Raven took a hit from the demon’s claws, and then he whacked the thing back. When the demon got up it charged for me. I moved out of the way in time, but not before the demon clawed me. I kicked the thing with my one good foot. Raven grabbed my hand and pulled me up,I stood on one foot.
“Are you okay?” Raven asked. I nodded.
“I’m fine.” I said, before falling to the pavement. Raven picked me up.
“Can you even walk?” Raven asked.
“Apparently not.” I said looking at my ankle. Blood was gushing out of my wound, there was a huge puddle of blood on the sidewalk. The demon was lapping the blood up. Raven picked me up and flitted me home. Raven pounded on the door.
“Mr.Tepes, emergency!” Raven yelled. My father came to the door. Before he even opened it all the way,Raven flitted in.
“Mr.Tepes,Sammantha needs help!” Raven said.
“Take her upstairs, and lay her in her coffin.” my father said pointing upstairs. Raven flitted upstairs, and straight to my room. He walked over to the coffin, and laid me down. I heard footsteps coming,I was relieved. My father walked in and quickly rushed over.
“Raven hold her foot.” my father said. Raven took my foot,it sent pain through my whole body. My father cleaned up my ankle, then wrapped it up. Raven set my foot back down.
“Are you going to be okay,Sammantha?” my father asked. I nodded. My father left. I closed my eyes, meditating.
“Samm, are sure you’re okay?” Raven asked, sitting next to my coffin.
“I’m fine.” I answered,half asleep.
When I woke up,Raven was still in my room. I got up and grabbed some clothes for school. I changed and packed my coffin bag. I threw on my combat boots and then hit Raven with a pillow.
“What the?!” Raven said jumping up. I laughed and threw another pillow.
“Oh,it’s on.” Raven laughed, throwing a pillow at me. I threw two at him and hid in my coffin. Raven opened the coffin lid and threw them back at me. I laughed and threw them back. My father walked in,one of my pillows hit him. I gasped and covered my mouth, hiding my laughter.
“Isn’t it about time to go to school?” my father asked smiling. I sighed. I got hit with a pillow,I turned around and my father and Raven were laughing. I put my hands on my hips.
“Okay…..who threw that?” I asked, grabbing a pillow. Raven pointed at my father, my father pointed at Raven. I grabbed another pillow, and threw one at each of them. We all burst out laughing.
“Okay, let me clean up,and I’ll head to school.” I told my father. He nodded and left. I picked up a pillow and tossed it into my coffin. Two pillows flew past my head, and landed into the coffin. I turned around and gave Raven the stink eye. He laughed and grabbed me around the stomach.
“We need to head to school.” I said, grabbing my bag.
“Okay,I need to make a pit stop at my house,to get my crap.” Raven said heading out the door,I followed and closed my bedroom door.
“Bye,father.” I said heading out the door. Raven followed me out.
“Why do you act so grown up?” Raven asked. I stopped.
“I don’t act grown up.” I said crossing my arms.
“Father? Most girls your age say dad.” Raven responded.
“That doesn’t mean,I’m acting grown up.” I said,walking.
“You never let your wild side out. You’re not always going to be a teen. Save that grown up crap, for when you’re actually grown up.” Raven said grabbing my shoulder.
“You’re starting to sound like my brother.” I said holding back a tear. Raven wrapped me in a hug.
“I’m sure your brother is out there somewhere.” he said stroking my hair. I pulled away, and wiped away the tears. Raven put an arm around my shoulders and held me close. We walked in silence, until we got to his house. I sat down on the curb and waited for him. A minute or so later someone grabbed my shoulder.
“That was fast.” I said turning around. It wasn’t Raven,it was a boy that was in my art class. Damn worst time to forget a name. I stood up.
“Hey.” he said sliding his hands into his pockets.
“Uh….Hey.” I said studying him. Hair white as snow, same as his eyes, pale white skin. He wore a black T-shirt under a jean jacket, his jeans were full of holes and were stained with something crimson.
“Sammantha…right?” he asked scratching the back of his head.
“Yeah. I’m Samm.” I said hoping Raven would come out the doors. Unfortunately he didn’t.
“I’m Nick. I’m in your art class.” he said nervously.
“Uh….I’ve noticed your artwork, and was wondering……where you get your inspiration?” he asked.
“Life.” I simply answered. He looked like I was going to hurt him,and he was really nervous.
“Life? Is it really that dark?” he asked.
“I perceive it as such.” I answered heaving my bag back onto my shoulder. He nodded.
“What are you doing…..uh….after school?” he asked. I raised an eyebrow. Was he serious?
“Not much, hanging out at the cemetery.” I answered.
“Oh,well…..could I join you?” he asked shifting from foot to foot.
“Sure…..I guess.” I said. He smiled. Raven came out, dragging his bag behind him.
“K,Samm.” he said. Raven looked over at Nick.
“Hey,Nick!” Raven said excitedly.
“Hey Raven!” Nick said. Raven grabbed my arm and headed in the direction of school. I reluctantly let him. Nick followed. When we reached school,Raven let go.
“See ya.” Raven said.
“See ya.” I replied. I headed to my locker, when I opened it a note fell out. “Samm” was written on the front,in calligraphy. I picked it up and stuffed it into my bag. I’d read it later. Part of my spider web had fallen off my locker door. I put it back in place, and hurried to my first class.
In study hall,I took out the note,it read:
Dear Sammantha,
I’ve had feelings for you, ever since I first saw you.
I hope you feel the same way. If you do,meet me under the
weeping willow across from the cemetery.
Your Admirer,
XOXOX
I rolled my eyes,I’ll bet it was one of those preppy bitches, who insist on giving me Hell. I stuffed it into my bag,and read until the bell.
When the bell rang,I went to my locker and grabbed my art supplies. In other words a few gel pens,a pencil, and my sketch book. I walked into art and sat down, where I normally sat,at the far back, next to the window. I hung my bag off the chair and took out my supplies. I had started a drawing of a person drowning in a lake of blood. I was filling in the lake with my red gel pen, when Nick came over.
“Can I sit?” Nick asked. I looked up.
“Free country.” I said returning to my drawing. Nick sat down and was watching me.
“You’re very talented.” Nick said not taking his eyes off me.
“Um….Thanks.” I replied not looking up from my drawing. I finished the lake and set the pen aside. Picking up the black pen,I began to outline certain details. I felt Nick’s eyes on me.
“No offense, but I’m not good with people watching me.” I said looking up. Nick’s cheeks were pink.
“Sorry,I didn’t realize…..I was staring.” Nick said. I smiled.
“It’s fine.” I said. Nick pulled out a sketch book,and began drawing. I didn’t want to stare,but I couldn’t help it.
“Now who’s staring?” Nick asked looking at me. I smiled.
“Sorry. Curiosity got to me.” I said smiling. Nick smiled.
“Curiosity killed the cat.” Nick said.
“Satisfaction brought it back.” I smirked. Nick laughed, soon I was laughing too. When the bell rang,I packed up my stuff, and headed out. Nick grabbed my hand. I almost fell.
“What the?” I said turning around. Nick quickly let go.
“Sorry. I just wanted to talk to you.” I smiled. Nick got up.
“S’okay.” I said walking beside Nick.
“You want to…walk to the cemetery, with me?” Nick asked. I nodded.
“Sure.” I said turning and heading to my locker. I threw my books into my locker, and pulled out my own books. I headed for the door,Nick came up from behind me.
“Hey.” he said.
“Hey.” I said back. Miss preppy bitch and her minions walked by,and pushed the books out of my hands.
“You dropped something Goth freak.” she laughed. Her minions laughed with her. I left my books and headed after her,but someone grabbed my arm. It was Nick.
“They’re not worth it.” he said handing me my books. I took my books and continued walking with Nick.
When we reached the graveyard I hopped onto a gravestone. Nick just stood next to my gravestone. I took out the note and reread it. I watched the weeping willow, seeing who went under it. Nick must’ve saw me.
“Waiting for someone?” Nick asked. I snapped out of it.
“Uh…..no.” I said, glancing at the note,I crumpled it and threw it into my bag. Jade came walking over.
“Hey girl.” she said walking over.
“Hey.” I replied. Jade jumped onto the gravestone with me.
“Is your ankle any better?” she asked. I took off my combat boot.
“Yeah,still a little sore,though” I said,massaging it. Jade smiled.
“I’m glad, have you seen any more de-” Jade started.
“Shhhh….” I said. Jade immediately closed her mouth.
“Sorry.” she said. I smiled. Jade started laughing. Trying to put my boot back on,I fell backwards off the gravestone. Jade gasped, and Nick took my hand and helped me up.
“Are you okay?!” Nick asked. I smiled.
“Yeah,I’m fine.” I laughed.
“Hey Jade,Leo or Raven coming?” I asked. Jade thought for a moment.
“I know Raven is,but I’m not so sure about Leo. Especially after…..you know.” Jade said, drooping. I put an arm around her shoulder.
“I’m sure Leo,didn’t mean anything he said. He just isn’t open minded.” I said, hugging Jade. Just then Raven walked over.
“Hey Nick! How goes it?” Raven asked.
“Hey Raven,it goes fine.” Nick answered. Raven walked over to me and Jade.
“Samm! Jade!” Raven said joining the hug. Jade laughed and pulled away. I followed her lead, then sat back down on the gravestone. I glanced at the weeping willow,no one. I knew those bitches did this, they were gonna pay. I snapped back, when I realized I was being pulled off the gravestone. Raven was pulling me.
“Samm,yo is anyone home?” Raven asked.
“Sorry,I was……off in my own world.” I said jumping from the gravestone. I grabbed my bag,and took off,I didn’t really care if anyone saw me flit. I headed home.
Chapter 10
The next day,I threw on some clothes and quickly flitted downstairs. Even though it was still foggy out,I could see perfectly. I hurried to the graveyard, hoping There were no mourners or any other presences. When I got there,It was empty,I was relieved. I set up five black candles in a circle, and lit each one. The flames burned black. I stepped into the circle and sat down. I meditated, for who knows how long, until I felt the candles go out. I sighed and opened my eyes, there stood Nick.
“You’re going to be late for school.” he said. I smirked and stepped out of the circle. Grabbing the lighter,I lit all the candles again, and sat back inside. All the flames went back out. I sighed, and growled some.
“Dammit.” I said grabbing the lighter. Nick snickered.
“What is so funny?” I asked lighting the last candle. Nick sat down at the edge of the circle. I tossed the lighter aside and closed my eyes, once again, and began meditating. The flames went out. I growled.
“God,dammit.” I got up and packed up the candles and the lighter. I just sat on the ground and meditated.
“Such dirty words.” Nick said. I smirked.
“Some of my favorite words.” I replied. Nick laughed. I opened my eyes and laughed, along.
“School?” Nick asked eying me. I sighed.
“I’m not going.” I replied. I took the lighter from my bag,and played with the fire.
“And why,may I ask, not?” he asked. I flipped open the lighter, then closed it, opened it,then closed it,I kept doing that, until Nick closed it,and took it away.
“Reasons,no one needs to know.” I said. Nick dangled the lighter in front of me.
“Tell me,and you get it back.” Nick said waving it. I rolled my eyes and sighed.
“I’m not in the mood, for school, right now.” I said reaching for the lighter,Nick pulled it away.
“Neither am I but, unfortunately,I still have to go.” Nick said. I crossed my arms.
“I could care less, about school. I have better things to do.” I said. He laughed.
“If you cut, then I’m gonna cut too.” Nick said tossing me the lighter. I caught it and laughed. I set my candles back up,and lit them. This time I kept my eyes open. Nick made a slashing motion, and the candles went out. I laughed.
“Cool, but irritating.” I said relighting the candles. I got sat down, when I heard a growl. I jumped, and the black flames grew.
“What’s going on?” Nick asked. I shook my head.
“I don’t know,but it’s not good.” I said. I looked around,and noticed the demon.
“Ah,shit.” I said. Nick looked my direction.
“Stay in the candles.” Nick said, stepping inside the candles. He said something in Latin and the black flames shot up,then returned to normal.
“It can’t get us,as long as we stay in here.” Nick said putting his hands on my shoulders. The demon charged for the circle, when he got close, the flames shot up. It backed down, and watched us.
“What the? What is it doing?” I asked.
“It’s just………..watching us.” Nick answered. It stepped closer, and the flames shot up. I jumped back.
“It’s okay,it can’t get in,no matter what. Let’s sit down, maybe it’ll get bored.” Nick said taking my hands, and pulling me down. I sat down and began meditating. The demon gave a bloodcurdling scream. I flinched, and felt Nick’s hand on mine.
“Why do they keep following me?” I asked under my breath. Apparently Nick heard me.
“They’ve been following you?” Nick asked. I cursed.
“Unfortunately.” I said watching the demon. The little fucker flipped me off! I moved my bag to my lap,and the note fell out. Before I got to it,Nick picked it up,and smoothed it out. I got ready to grab my lighter, and burn the note. Nick blushed. I played with the lighter, and the fire. I kept sticking my finger in the fire, until Nick caught me.
“You’re not normal.” he said looking me over. I sighed.
“Normal has many definitions.” I said playing with the candle flame.
“I meant,you’re not normal…normal.” he said. I played with the flames,and sighed.
“Confidential.” I replied staring at the demon. It stuck its tongue at me,so I flipped it off.
“One word……..mysterious.” Nick said flipping open the lighter, then closing it. I plucked a blade of grass and burned it.
“What makes you say that?” I ask.
“You.” he laughed. I smirked and rolled my eyes.
“I’m not mysterious, just smart.” I replied. Nick laughed.
“Mysterious, you’re a closed book.” he said. The demon suddenly just got up and took off. Hmm…odd.
“Good riddens.” I yelled after it. Nick laughed, and the flames died. I held my hand out.
“Lighter.” I said. Nick got up and took off.
“Come get it!” he yelled. I flitted after him,he stopped abruptly. Unfortunately,it isn’t that easy to stop on a dime when flitting,I flitted into him and we fell to the ground.
“Dammit. I’m sorry.” I said sitting up. Nick sat up.
“It’s okay. It takes a lot to take me down.” he said standing up. He held out his hand,I took it and stood up.
“Tell me one thing.” Nick said walking to a grave. I followed.
“What?” Nick turned my way.
“What are you?” he asked. I looked away.
“Confidential.” I said. Nick grabbed my shoulders.
“You’re not going to make this easy?” he asked. I smirked.
“No,I’m not.” I said smiling.
“Don’t make me beg.” he said. I laughed.
“Please……..tell me what you are.” Nick pleaded. I sighed.
“Something I’m ashamed of.” I said trying to pull away,Nick kept a hold of my shoulders.
“Don’t be ashamed of what you are. You’re one cool girl.” he said, smiling. I turned away. Nick placed a finger under my chin and turned my head back to him,and kissed me. I wanted to pull away, but I also didn’t. When it broke Nick smiled, and pulled me close, hands on my waist. Nick brushed my hair behind my ear. Nick pulled me closer, and kissed me again.
Just then Raven walked by the cemetery, and saw Samm, and Nick locked in a kiss. He flitted over.
Raven pulled me away from Nick. I could tell he was pissed.
“What the Hell?” Raven asked looking from me to Nick. Raven’s grip on my arm told me he wasn’t too pleased.
“Raven,that hurts.” I said,his grip tightening.
“Raven, please let her go.” Nick pleaded.
“Why the Hell were you kissing her?” Raven asked. I wriggled free from Raven’s grip. My arm was as red,as if I were to sit in the sun.
“I’m sorry.” Nick said. Raven grabbed my arm,and dragged me home.
…
Nick watched as Raven pulled Sammantha away. His heart sank. He walked back to the circle of candles. He touched his finger each one,and they lit. He sat in the middle, watching the black flames. He grabbed Sammantha’s bag, even though he knew he shouldn’t,he looked inside. He pulled out a book, Demonic. He opened it and flipped through the pages. Some of the pages were tore, while others were burned,at the edges. He stopped at a page that was marked, and read it.
“These demons are one of the most dangerous devils. Their
sharp nails and teeth can cut through most anything. With
remarkable speed and strength, these demons are tough to
defeat or injure. Most of the time they are solo hunters, but
if needed they will hunt in a pack, and work together. They
only attack immortals, but they will harm any mortal that
gets in their way. They can change form to any animal,
mortal,or immortal. These demons are nasty little things.”
Nick set the book down, and pulled out a black magick book. His eyebrow raised, flipping it open he noticed this book was tore and burned too.
“More and more mysterious.” Nick whispered. He closed the book. The last thing in her bag,was her sketchbook. The most recent drawing was of the demon, that was after them before. He flipped through the pages, these weren’t burned or torn, not even bent, they were smooth and crisp. Nick stared at the detail and accuracy of each of each drawing. Tracing his finger along each and every line. Nick packed up Samm’s stuff, blew out the flames and threw the candles into the bag. He headed towards Samm’s house.
I flopped down into my coffin. After having Raven yell at me,I was tired. Unfortunately my father wasn’t home,so Raven acted as the parent. Twenty minutes of yelling,I was relieved when he left.
I was almost asleep, when the doorbell rang. I figured it was Raven, coming to make sure I was still here. I flitted downstairs, and opened the door. It wasn’t Raven, but Nick. I smiled and let him come in. I sat down on the couch,Nick sat next to me.
“I hope you didn’t get in too much trouble.” Nick said apologetically. I smirked.
“No. I just got yelled at…….by Raven. My father wasn’t home.” I said. Nick placed an arm around my shoulders. He handed me my bag.
“Here, you didn’t get a chance to grab it.” Nick said. I took my bag.
“Thanks.” I said. I pulled out the lighter, and played with the fire.
“Listen,I’m really sorry, for getting’ ya yelled at.”
“It doesn’t matter,I didn’t really hear half of what he said, and he’s not my father.” I said.
“So…uh-” Nick started. My father walked in.
“Sammantha, the ‘community’ is having a meeting, tonight.” my father said turning around.
“Vell who is this fine young man?” my father asked. Nick stood up.
“I’m Nick…..Sir.” Nick said nervously. My father laughed.
“I’m Vlad. Sammantha, you need to get ready for the meeting.” my father said. I nodded, and flitted upstairs.
I always hated these meetings. I pulled out my black dress. It looked so stereotypical for vampyres in those old, black and white movies. I hated dresses, but I hated stereotypes more. I sighed and changed into it. I slipped on my bat key necklace and black choker. I applied black mascara, eyeliner, and eyeshadow. I straightened my hair, and redid my nails. I threw on my dressy black boots, and went back downstairs.
When Sammantha came downstairs,Nick thought she looked like an angel, well a dark angel. She was beautiful.
“I absolutely loath these meetings.” I said entering the living room.
“Sammantha, this one’s about the demons roaming around the mortal world.” my father said. Nick sat there staring at me. I walked over to the couch, and sat down.
“Samm, you look…….beautiful.” Nick said ogling at me. There was a knock at the door. I got up and opened the door,of course it was Raven. I reluctantly let him in, shutting the door.
Samm, you look awesome.” Raven said. I rolled my eyes.
“Hello,Raven. Are you ready for the meeting?” my father asked. I sat back down, next to Nick. Raven glared mine and Nick’s way. Then plastered a fake smile on his face.
“I’m ready. What’s this one about? It’s a little soon for the next meeting.” Raven asked.
“I agree. It’s about the demons, escaping Hell. The council couldn’t wait until, the next meeting.” my father was part of the council, although,he was almost kicked off for marrying a mortal. So I always had to dress nice and attend every one. Ugh,I loath the meetings, all the adults either glare at me or just stare. I get it already,I’m not a full vampyre! It’s not that damn interesting! Raven sat down on my other side.
“It’s about time to depart.” my father said. Nick stood up. He said bye and went out the door. My father got up.
“Raven, your folks coming?” my father asked.
“Yeah.” Raven answered, sighing. I’d never met Raven’s parents, they hardly ever came to the meeting.
I entered the old run down building, that was supposed to be the vampyre community hall. I sighed and sat down at my seat,on the right of my father’s spot. I never talked to anyone,I just sat and waited for the meeting to start.
These meetings took place at the end of every month, and you had to be thirteen before you went to your first one. The first one I went to,I was actually excited, but I got glares and stares the whole meeting. After that,I loathed every one. I always wished that the meetings would start early, they never did. Eight o’clock sharp, not a minute before or after. The council was made up of elders and important vampyres. The head elder was Raine.
I watched everyone conversing. I hated being the only part mortal,in the vampyre community. Most of the council resented me,except for two or three. Some meetings I wished I were invisible. I loathed the glares, the dress, and the whispers. Even the younger vamps hated me. Someone please kill me,ugh.
I noticed a new vamp. He had jet black hair,blood-red eyes. Although he didn’t look thirteen,he looked older, more like fifteen. Had he always been here, and I didn’t notice,or what? I was tempted to go up and introduce myself, but decided not to. He’d know all about me,when the adults started whispering, and glaring. I sighed and waited for the meeting to begin.
Chapter 11
“What is happening?!” One of the adults yelled out. One of the elders held up a hand, waiting for silence.
“Demons are escaping from Hell, and are after immortals. We called this meeting to inform everyone, and try to resolve the problem.” the oldest elder,Raine, announced. I rolled my eyes,I respected Raine, but sometimes he could be captain obvious. Another elder,Alec, stood up.
“We believe Lucifer,is purposely letting these demons loose. The reason is unknown.” Alec sat back down. The new vamp sat down next to me,I pretended not to notice.
“Has anyone came in contact with a demon?” an elder,Haze, asked. I prayed my father didn’t say anything. Unfortunately,he stood up.
“My daughter has.” I almost died right then and there. Could it get any worse? Of course it can.
“Sammantha, stand.” Raine instructed. I sighed and stood.
“Have you came in contact with these demons?” he asked. Raine was one of the elders who didn’t resent me.
“Yes. Two of them.” I answered. Raine nodded. Haze stood up,he on the other hand hated my guts.
“Hmpf….I don’t see why.” he laughed. A lot of the adults laughed with him. I felt my anger growing inside. My father and Raine glared at him.
“Thank you Sammantha.” Rain said. I sat down.
“Anyone else?” Raine asked glancing around. I was embarrassed,no one else had encountered one. I caught Haze smirking at me. I ignored him. Someone tapped my shoulder,I turned around,it was the new vamp.
“Haze has serious issues.” he whispered. I silently laughed at the comment.
“I’m Dante.” he whispered.
“I’m Samm.” I whispered back. He smiled.
“Do you think Lucifer is planning some kind of attack?” an adult asked. Caine, one of the elders, stood up.
“I should hope not!” Caine exclaimed. Alec stood.
“I highly doubt it. The demons haven’t attacked any mortals yet.” Alec said. Haze stood up.
“Except for Sammantha.” He said laughing. Most of the adults snickered. I sighed. Raine stood.
“Cease this nonsense,Haze.” Raine said. Haze just laughed and sat back down. I cursed under my breath.
“What are we going to do?” someone shouted.
“Right now, nothing. At least not until we can capture one,and study it.” Raine said. I knew the council would never be able to capture one.
“We need volunteers,to help catch demons.” Raine announced. Haze stood up. Oh dear, this can’t be good.
“I volunteer Sammantha.” Haze said smirking. I growled.
“The demons seem to come after her.” Haze finished. I did everything in my power to not speak out.
“Sammantha, will you volunteer?” Alec asked. I stood up.
“Yes.” I said. Alec nodded. I sat back down. Raven had a look of concern across his face,he was begging me to not do this.
“Anyone else?” Raine asked. A few more adults volunteered. I was the only teen that volunteered, everyone else was older. Until Dante stood.
“I’ll volunteer.” he said. Raine nodded. Dante sat back down.
“It is recommended you hunt in pairs. But you may go solo.” Raine said. I was going solo,I didn’t need some judgmental adult telling me what to do.
“If you catch one, report to any of the council members.” Raine said.
“Meeting adjourned.” Rain said. I let out a sigh of relief.
Upon reaching home,I flitted up to my room and fell back into my coffin. I was almost asleep, when my phone rang. I groaned and reluctantly picked it up.
“Hello?” I asked looking at the clock.
“Hey.”
“Who the Hell are you,and how did ya get this number?” I asked sleepily.
“Dante. Raven gave me the number.” I’m gonna kill Raven.
“What do ya want?” I sighed.
“Raven asked me to talk you out of hunting the demons.” Dante replied.
“Oh dear Satan. I’m hunting them whether he likes it or not.” I replied.
“I wasn’t going to talk you out of it. I was going to ask to hunt with you. Since the council recommended hunting in pairs.” Dante answered. I almost dropped the phone, he actually didn’t want to stop me.
“Uh….sure.” I answered.
“So when can we meet up?” he asked.
“Tomorrow morning?” I replied. I was glad tomorrow was Saturday.
“Sure. I’ll meet you at the meeting hall.” Dante said.
“Kk. See ya.”
“See you.” Dante replied. I set the phone back on the receiver, and went to sleep.
Chapter 12
I woke up aching. I got out of my coffin, and threw on a black tank, black shorts, black and white arm warmers, and combat boots. I stuffed some books, candles and a lighter into my bag. I dashed down the stairs, and out the door. Walking to the meeting hall,I had time to think. How would we catch one of those ugly bastards? I pondered it for a while, then shoved the thought aside. I kicked a rock down the sidewalk, until I reached the meeting hall. When I got there Dante was sitting against a wall reading. I walked up to him.
“Hey.” I said. Dante looked up and smiled.
“Hey Sammantha.” Dante responded. He motioned for me to sit down. I sat down and set my bag on my lap. Dante laid his book down.
“So where do we start?” Dante asked. I pulled out the candles and the lighter.
“The last time,I was meditating, and that bastard came out of nowhere.” I said setting up the candles. I lit each one,the black flames growing then shrinking.
“Black flamed candles?” he asked. I nodded.
“They’re used in black magick ceremonies, and meditating.” I answered, sitting down in the middle of the circle of candles.
“Black magick? You’re not a normal girl.” he said.
“Don’t remind me.” I groaned.
“Oh….sorry.” Dante apologized.
“It’s fine.” I said closing my eyes. I felt the flames rise. Opening my eyes,I looked around.
“The flames…..they grew.” Dante’s eyes grew.
“It means there is something evil lurking around.” I said looking around. Then I heard it,the bloodcurdling scream.
“Dammit,it found me.” I sighed. I slowly stood and stepped out of the circle, the black flames went out. The fucker came at me fast. I moved out of the way.
“Sammantha” it growled. Shit, the thing knew my name.
“Join us.” it growled stepping closer. Dante began coming closer,I waved him back.
“What do you want?” I asked. It stepped closer.
“Evil reigns in your heart. Join us.” it screeched. I stepped back.
“What? No way!” I replied.
“Evil reigns in your heart. You will join us.” it said.
“Duis ad demon inferni!” I shouted at it. It disappeared, back to Hell. I sighed.
“What did you say?” Dante asked.
“Send this demon back to Hell.” I answered. Dante came up behind me.
“That thing was just messing with your mind. I doubt there is any evil in you.” he said. I turned to face him.
“I believe I…..do.” I said.
“I believe you don’t. You’re a sweet girl.” he said. I pulled away.
“You’ve only just met me,you don’t know.” I said and stepped into the circle of candles. I took my lighter, lit the candles then played with the fire.
“Actually…..I’ve been watching you….at the meetings…..from afar.” Dante answered nervously. The black flames rose.
“I’ve never seen you at any of the meetings.” I said not looking from my lighter.
“I try to not be seen.” Dante answered sitting at the edge of the circle. The black flames quivered, then went out. I sighed.
“Then why make yourself known, now?” I asked.
“Because…….er….reasons for me to know.” he answered. I laughed.
“Fine….don’t tell me.” I said relighting the candles. Dante grabbed my wrist. The flames died. He pulled me over the candles, and kissed me.
“That’s the reason.” he said when the kiss broke.
“Oh.” was all I could say. Dante smiled.
“So…..um…back to the demon.” Dante said. I re-lit the candles, then played with the fire.
“Should we tell the council?” I asked. I ran my finger through the fire, then back out.
“That would be a good idea.” he answered. I sighed, that would give Haze more of a reason to resent me.
“Okay the next meeting,I will.” I sighed. Unfortunately that meeting was tonight.
When I reached the meeting hall,I went straight to my spot. Dante sat down next to me. I couldn’t tell the council about the demon,I just couldn’t. I sighed and watched as vampyres flooded into the meeting hall. Then the meeting started.
“Please be seated everyone.” Raine announced. Once the noise died down he spoke.
“I have learned of a demon asking a young vamp to join their side.” Raine said. My eyes went wide, how the Hell did he know?
“Sammantha,stand.” oh dear Satan,no. I stood up.
“Is it true the demon asked you?” Raine asked.
“It was more of a demand.” I answered, watching Haze.
“I see.” Raine said. I had bats in my stomach. Haze stood up. Oh my,this can’t be good.
“You should join their side. Then the community wouldn’t be ashamed anymore. And I would be able to end-” Haze was cut short,by Dante.
“No! Sammantha is loyal to the community. She not only denied the demon, she sent him back to Hell.” Dante said. I was shocked. I could tell the rest of the council was too. Except,of course, for Haze. I balled my fists. All of a sudden there was a bright flash of light,it knocked me off my feet. I got back up,and in the middle of the meeting, was Lucifer himself. He turned around, and pointed at me.
“Sammantha…….Evil reigns in your heart. Join me!” Lucifer announced.
“No!” I replied.
“You WILL join me!” Lucifer said, then disappeared. Dante grabbed my shoulders.
“There you see! Satan himself says she is evil!” Haze said. I sighed and sat back down. I could feel Dante’s aura,it was strong with emotion. This wasn’t going to end well.
“She isn’t evil! She is one of the nicest people,I’ve met. Unlike you.” Dante wasn’t very happy. I sank down in my chair. Haze looked furious.
“Have you no manners, boy!? You treat your elders with respect!” Haze shouted. Dante didn’t back down.
“Do you? I don’t think so.” Dante’s aura grew stronger and stronger. I wanted to be invisible, right now.
“Silence!” Rain said. Dante sat back down,as did Haze. I was relieved.
“Meeting adjourned!” Rain said. I was the first outside,I really needed to breathe. A hand touched my shoulder,I turned around prepared to fight. It was just Dante and Raven.
“Samm, you okay?” Raven asked. I just nodded. I wasn’t fine, but they didn’t need to know that. I sat on the ground and buried my head in my hands. Haze was going to do whatever it took,to get me banished from the community. The only good thing about today was,I turned fifteen. Dante sat down next to me.
“Sammantha, you’re not okay.” he said. I lifted my head.
“You may be right, but I’m not admitting it.” I said. Dante smiled, and hugged me. For a split second, the world seemed at peace. Then Raine came out.
“Sammantha.” Raine said,in a soft tone. I didn’t know whether I was in trouble,or not.
“Yes?” I answered.
“Come with me.” I knew I was in trouble now. I got up and followed. He led me to the council’s meeting room.
“Sammantha, have you any idea what Lucifer is capable of?” he asked. I shook my head.
“He can destroy everything.”
“What does this have to do with me?” I asked.
“He wants you to join him. If he doesn’t get his way…….well there will be Hell to pay.” he answered.
“So….what do I do?” I asked. I had bats in my stomach, again. He put a hand on my shoulder.
“That is your decision. You go with him,or you stay with the community.” he said. I was loyal to the community, but there would be no community if the world were destroyed.
“I am loyal to the community, nothing will change that.” I said. Raine smiled.
“I know, you are strong, and intelligent. I have no doubts you will find a solution.” he said. I cracked a small smile. Just then Haze came into the room. He glared at me. I ignored him.
“Why is she back here. You heard Lucifer, evil is in her heart.” Haze said disgusted. I bit my tongue,I didn’t need another reason for Haze to doubt and resent me. Raine nodded, meaning I could leave. I was relieved. I flitted back outside, and took a deep breath.
“Don’t lie……….are you okay?” Raven asked. I nodded. This time I meant it.
Chapter 13
Waking up,I felt dead,no pun intended. I ached, maybe it was from last night? Whatever the reason,I felt like a stake had pierced my heart. I sat up,I wasn’t in my own house. Shit! Where am I? I looked around, everything looked old Medieval Gothic. I got up off the couch and walked around. The walls were gray stones, like in those old castles. I traced my fingers along the stones. There were portraits hung on the wall. Candle holders decorated the room with lit candles. Everything reminded me of the Renaissance period. It was beautiful. I heard footsteps, behind me. I spun around and prepared to fight. In the doorway stood a man. He was pale-white,eyes glowing red. He was dressed in a stereotypical Dracula outfit, even a black cloak flowing behind him. He approached me,so I stepped back.
“Sammantha…..you are safe.” his voice was like a gentle wind. I stepped back again, keeping a respectable distance between us. I tried to remember the spell for protection.
“praesidio.” I said. I knew I remebered it right, when there was a faint white glow outlining me. The man looked impressed.
“omissa defensione.” he said, waving his hand. The glow disappeared. Dammit, he knew black magick, too.
“afferte mihi.” he said. I had no idea what he said. Against my will,I was being pulled by an invisible force, towards the man. I stopped within a foot or so in front of him.
“Child, you can’t fight a master.” he said smirking. I growled. He just laughed at me.
“Let me go.” I growled fighting it. Even if I were a full vampyre,I wouldn’t be able to get out of his grip.
“You have spirit,Sammantha.” he said chuckling. I growled.
“Calm, child. I mean you no harm.” After he said that,I was released. I just stood there.
“Who the Hell are you? And where the Hell am I?” I growled. He just laughed. Just then a familiar face appeared behind the man. Dante!? Dante caught my eyes,he was as surprised as I was.
“Sammantha!? What are doing here?” Dante asked. I shook my head.
“I have no idea.” I said glaring at the man.
“Dear child,I am a friend, not an enemy.” he said smoothly. I wasn’t in the mood for this.
“invisibilitate.” I whispered. Immediately I was invisible. Dante stood there in fear, and awe. The man guffawed.
“apparet.” Dammit, why does he have to undo my spells? I sighed.
“Father……” Dante started. My eyes would’ve been bulging out of my head, like in those old cartoons.
“What are you doing?” Dante asked. Dante crossed the room,to me.
“Analyzing,Testing.” his father answered. I let out a small growl. Dante grabbed me around the waist, and pulled me to him.
“Why?” Dante asked.
“She is destined to destroy Lucifer and save the world from his reign.” he answered. Dante’s grip got tighter.
“You have to be joking.” I said said. He shook his head.
“No,child. I am not. You need to learn to use your powers.” he said stepping closer. I prepared to defend myself. He grabed my wrist and slit it,faster than I had time to react.
“Fuck! What the Hell?” I asked holding my wrist. He squeezed my wrist, the blood dripped into a test tube like container. He capped the container. I laid my hand over the cut,it stung like Hell. I started to feel dizzy,so I held my head.
“How much freakin’ blood did you take, from me?” I asked angrily.
“About three pints.” he answered. I was feeling the effect. I fell to my knees. Dante helped me up,and led me to the couch. I sat down.
“You should rest, child.” he said. That child crap was getting on my nerves.
“Do not worry, your father knows you are here. He agreed to it.” he said. My heart sank. Why would he do this? Dante pulled me close.
“I am deeply sorry for my father’s actions.” he said.
“It’s okay.” I replied half-heartedly. I felt like shit right about now,but I didn’t want Dante to know.
“Sana.” I whispered. My wrist began to heal. Dante took my hand.
“Are you okay?” he asked. I nodded.
“Yeah. I’m fine.” I answered. My wrist healed,it looked as if it were never cut. I rubbed my wrist. Dante’s father came back in,oh dear this wasn’t going to end well.
“Sammantha, come wth me.” he said gesturing for me to follow. I hesitated.
“ invisibilitate.” I whispered. I disappeared. Dante’s father sighed.
“ apparet.” he said. I sighed upon reappearing.
“Sammantha, you need to learn to control your powers.” Dante’s father said walking towards the couch.
“No I don’t. I can control them already.” I said. Dante’s father shook his head.
“Child, you don’t control them, your emotions do.” he said. I bit my lip to keep from shouting out. The flames from the candles shot straight up.
“See child. Your emotions and magick are connected.” he said gesturing to the candles. I looked around,he was right, they were connected. He placed a hand on my shoulder.
“Come with me child. Dante you may come along.” he said getting up. Dante got up,took my hand, and followed after his father. I followed nervously.
His father led us through corridors and hallways. Until we entered a huge empty room. The floor was marble and it echoed when you walked on it.
“This is where you can train, without hurting anything.” he said. He walked over to a ring of candles.
“Sammantha, sit in the center.” he said gesturing to the candles. I walked into the circle and sat down. He lit the candles. Dante sat down on the outside of the circle.
