Just wrote a virus, then half of it was deleted by the stupid editor. Fuck, it’s 3 in the morning and I don’t wanna write the whole thing again.

Thanks for the advice…the thing is, I live in an area with a decent metal scene, but the local colleges have few metalheads – believe me, I’ve tried. I’m doing plenty of research and studying musical theory right now, and I’m trying to get in with some smaller bands, but until then, I’m starting my own solo project – just crappy demoes I…[Read more]

So I’m a high school student who’s thinking about her future. I know I want to be a heavy metal guitarist, but I’m wondering if I should apply for a music college after high school, or jump straight into the local metal scene. (Giving into my parents’ demands to get a ”normal education” and a ”normal job” is not an option.) Suggestions, anyone?
-
Why not do a balance of both. Being in a band is very tiring and time consuming granted so choose a small band. One that does gigs every now and then to get a feel for what it is to be an a real metal band, while going to college so if a larger band has an opening then that will shine through.

I wish i would have taken some type of music theory or related when I got outta HS. You can do both, I and I hear if you really are serious about getting in a band with like minded souls, a college is the perfect place to find ’em. It shows you ain’t just ’effn around. Best of luck!

Music production is a full time job. Continue with what you are doing, hang out at local music joints, you may find some people in need of a new mate and you may just fill in the spot. Music industry is half skill, and half luck.

I like Heartfelt Destruction and The Seeing, but my favorite is Bullets and Broken Glass. It’s cool, unique, and easy to remember, and absolutely perfect for any heavy band.

You don’t see a lot of 15-year-old female martial artists. I do American Open Karate, and at my studio, there are a couple of teenage guys, and one middle-aged woman who comes in sometimes (who doesn’t choose to spar, so I get used to being the only girl). Not that it bothers me…even if they’re [...]

I’m sorry that this happened to you. I’m in high school right now, and I’ve NEVER been through so much drama, most of it being caused by (ex)-friends. It’s very possible that you two just grew apart, and that you’ll regain that closeness when you see each other again – but you’ll both have to [...]

What you said completely makes sense to me, but when it came to martial artists, I always thought of a musician – the strength and speed is ability, the various strikes are notes, the techniques are chords, and the fight is a beautifully brutal, improvised melody. But I like the language metaphor too.

It actually seems to me that, although vengeance is bliss, ignorance is not…plus, killing someone for calling me a freak would only prove their point, would it not? But if I killed someone – and I’m a very peaceful, nonviolent person, but IF I did – it would probably be a tyrant or a person [...]
